‘Cause I’ll be there, in the back of your mind
From the day we met ’til you were making me cry
And it’s just too bad, you’re already had the best days
The best days of your life

Ain’t it a shame?
A shame that every time you hear my name
Brought up in a casual conversation
You can’t think straight

And ain’t it sad?
You can forget about what we had
Take a look at her and do you like what you see?
Or do you wish it was me

‘Cause I’ll be there, in the back of your mind
From the day we met to the very last night
And it’s just too bad, you’ve already had the best days
The best days of your life

And does she know?
Know about the times you used to hold me
Wrapped me in your arms and how you told me
I’d be the only one

I heard about
Yeah, someone told me once when you were out
She went a little crazy ran her mouth about me
Ain’t jealousy funny?

‘Cause I’ll be there, in the back of your mind
From the day we met to the very last night
And it’s just too bad, you’ve already had the best days
The best days of your life

… with me was a fairytale love
I was head-over-heals ’til you threw away us
And it’s just too bad you’ve already had the best days
The best days of your life

I heard you’re gonna got married
Have a nice little family
Live out my dreams with someone new
But, I’ve been told that a cheater
Is always a cheater
So I’ve got my pride, and she’s got you…

‘Cause I’ll be there, in the back of your mind
From the day we met ’til you were making me cry
And it’s just too bad, you’ve already had the best days
The best days of your life

You Belong With Me

May 30, 2009

You’re on the phone with your girlfriend, She’s upset
She’s going off about something that you said
She doesn’t get your humor like I do

I’m in the room, it’s a typical Tuesday night
I’m listening to the kind of music she doesn’t like
And she’ll never know your story like I do

But she wears short skirts, I wear t-shirts
She’s cheer captain and I’m on the bleachers
Dreaming about the day when you’ll wake up and find
That what you’re looking for has been here the whole time

If you could see that I’m the one who understands you
Been here all along so why can’t you see?
You belong with me
You belong with me

Walkin the streets with you in your worn out jeans
I cant help thinking this is how it ought to be
Laughing on the park bench thinkin to myself
Hey isnt this easy?

And you’ve got a smile that could light up this whole town
I havent seen it in awhile, since she brought you down
You say you find I know you better than that
Hey, Whatcha doing with a girl like that?

She wears high heels, I wear sneakers
She’s cheer captain and I’m on the bleachers
Dreaming bout the day when you’ll wake up and find
That what you’re looking for has been here the whole time

If you could see that I’m the one who understands you
Been here all along so why can’t you see?
You belong with me

Standin by, waiting at your back door
All this time how could you not know that?
You belong with me
You belong with me

Oh I remember you driving to my house in the middle of the night
I’m the one who makes you laugh when you know you’re about to cry
I know your favorite songs and you tell me about your dreams
I think I know where you belong. I think I know it’s with me.

Can’t you see that I’m the one who understand you?
Been here all along so why can’t you see?
You belong with me

Standing by or waiting at your back door
All this time how could you not know that
You belong with me
You belong with me

Have you ever thought just maybe
You belong with me

Victimized

May 30, 2009

People don’t realize, don’t fathom, don’t see the tiniest things in life. Your wife curled her hair, you ask, “Did the Jets win?” Your mom made cookies, you ask, “Who?” Your child gets bullied into crying extension, you say, “So? It’s just a phase.”

When someone gets bullied, it scars the veneer of confidence he or she had going for them. It happens once, the child forgets. It happens twice, the child wonders. It happens a third time, the child knows. The child acknowledges the hurt and pain and relinquish. It is role played out, every cliche as vulnerable as the next:

The child goes to a teacher, in need of dire help. The teacher addresses the behaviour to the student, said so,  Bully. The bully is strongly advised, no forced, to apologize to his or her victim. The bullying ceases. For a week. The teacher smiles smugly, receives “Teacher Of The Year” for controlling anger, and end of discussion. For a week.

When a child asks you to help them, please DO NOT disregard them. Children are so much smarter than parents, guardians, adult(in general) presume them to be. And spelling out Mary needs to go to s-l-e-e-p because she has s-c-h-o-o-l tomorrow only works for children under three. When a thirteen year old wants to have you as a literary agent because she just wrote a book(that she started when she was TEN), do not say no just because you are apprehensive about her age. If a kid comes knocking on your door to let them in, open the stupid door. Now, I use that as a metaphor. No kid’s going to come knocking on your door for homemade cookies everyday(That’s what Wal-Mart’s for), but I bet there’s hundreds of kids that have suiciderun through their heads when no one turns to look after them. It’s sort of sad and pathetic how little some people do. Sitting at home watching TV while an immigrant worker pours bag out of bag of fertilizer on your lawn, and your SUV tans in the parking lot does absolutely no help. Maybe if you opened your eyes every once in a while, you’d see that your little boy hasn’t come out of his room for three days now. Maybe if you opened your eyes every once in a while, you see the blink on the answering machine from your son’s school asking why he has been absent for so long. Maybe if you opened your eyes every once in a while, you’d see the flies gathering by his closed door. Maybe if you opened your eyes every once in a while, you’d realize something was wrong.

It’s carelessness that gets us all in trouble. It’s lack of integrity. But what about for the people who listen to every story someone has to say? To those people, a cheer. If it weren’t for you, this world would go down the drain like a kid who just thrust a handful of pills down his. He doesn’t need to know what would’ve happened if those had gone through his body rather than through the sewage.

He doesn’t.
